Mt. Ferohin is a colonial-style bungalow hidden on forested land above the valleys of Mahabaleshwar. It sleeps up to twelve guests in six bedrooms, opens onto a viewing deck over the valley, and comes with a personal chef, a butler and daily housekeeping. You can arrive by road or land on the house's own helipad.
The drawing room has vaulted timber ceilings and deep blue sofas; the dining room has a long table for slow mountain dinners. The six bedrooms have stone walls, art and valley light. The interiors are rich and considered, and the old-world character of the bungalow is kept. A viewing deck faces the valley and is where afternoons go. See Mt. Ferohin.
Mahabaleshwar is reached by road from Mumbai and Pune. Mt. Ferohin also has its own helipad, so the house can be reached by helicopter and you land on the property.
The family has always come here for winter bonfires. The house has heaters for cold mountain nights, a barbecue set-up for evenings outside, outdoor seating and dining, and a garden. There is no washing machine at this home; laundry is handled by housekeeping during the stay.
A personal chef cooks every meal in the house kitchen to your timings and tastes. A butler looks after the house and its guests, and rooms are made up every morning and turned down in the evening. A property manager is on hand before and during the stay. What is included at a full-service home.
Lodwick Point, the sunset walk through the woods to a clearing above the valley, is three minutes from the gate. Venna Lake and its pedal boats are eleven minutes away, Mapro Garden about twenty-eight minutes on the Panchgani road, Arthur's Seat thirty-five minutes along the ridge and Pratapgad Fort forty-five minutes. The old Mahabaleshwar temples, where the river Krishna begins, are twenty minutes away.
